                                                    Emmy Renee's Fight

Emmy is a beautiful, kind, and free-spirited young lady. She is a daughter, she is a sister, she is a very proud aunt and she is a friend.  Now, at only 19 years of age, she is facing the biggest fight of her life.

On Tuesday, March 26th, while driving to Colorado with her sweet pug (Nova), Emmy was in a horrible car accident.  Her car collided with a concrete culvert and rolled into a fence before coming to rest on the roof. (She was wearing her seatbelt, not speeding, not texting, and not under the influence.) Emmy sustained extreme injuries to include a broken arm, broken heal, severe blood loss, collapsed and bruised lungs, colon damage, swelling in the brain, several knocked out teeth, severe facial lacerations, and the list goes on. Em was airlifted to a Denver hospital for emergency medical attention. While in flight, she died and was without oxygen for several minutes but was heroically resuscitated by a tech in the ER. Upon arrival, she had two emergency surgeries to try and stop the blood loss and the release the pressure in her brain. She was also placed on a ventilator and life support.

Her headstrong ways have never been so welcomed as we watched Emmy fight for her life. Everyone that knows and loves Emmy surrounded her and prayed. Her doctors and nurses did everything they could and then when you didn't think it was possible... they did more. Emmy fought for every moment and miraculously, those moments turned to minutes... minutes turned to hours... and now we are confident that Emmy IS  going to recover.

We are all so encouraged by her progress but we also recognize that the road ahead is long. She has endured yet another surgery and will continue to have essential reconstructive surgery about every three days.

Emmy has stolen the hearts of the medical staff as they hear the stories shared about her character, sassiness, her love of music, and her warm heart. Even in a paralyzed state, she continues to touch the lives of others and make her family and friends beam with adoration.
Emily Renee Caricato is the daughter you can be proud of, the sister you can always count on, and the best friend that will always have your back.
We will forever be thankful to the Cheyenne County Sherrif, first responders, the airlift team, the emergency room techs, doctors, nurses, surgeons,  and so thankful to God for giving us more time.

Your love, support, and continued prayers mean everything. As I’m sure you can imagine, Em’s journey to a complete recovery has just begun. We are so grateful for any financial contribution you can make to help Emmy restore her life! All funds will be used for medical bills and the countless surgeries it will take for Emmy to recover.
