STRENGTH for Emmanuel's FIGHT!!!!
Emmanuel, my little brother, is a 30 year old, strong, determined, good hearted, fun, loving, happy go-lucky, joke telling guy. That one guy you meet and don’t forget.
On Sunday morning, October 1st, Emmanuel was in a car accident. He was a passenger going home when the car rolled and he was ejected. He was left by the driver. CHP arrived on the scene and found Emmanuel clinging to life. He was medi-flighted to Memorial Hospital in Modesto for evaluation. Upon evaluation doctors found he had a stage 4 liver laceration with internal bleeding. Doctors also found that he had an Aortic Dissection, 13 broken ribs and bruised lungs, which required chest tubes. Doctors at Memorial determined he needed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding from the liver laceration. The surgery was successful and Emmanuel was prepped for flight to UC Davis Medical Facility for emergency surgery of the Aortic Dissection. Where a team of 30 surgeons, doctors and nurses waited for his arrival. There was a lot unknown going into the surgery as to how long it would take and to how severe the injury was, but Emmanuel being the fighter he is, was out of surgery in about an hour. The surgery went extremely well considering the severity of the injury. Doctors commented multiple times that they couldn’t believe the outcome and it’s a miracle that Emmanuel is alive. He is currently in ICU, fighting for his life. Every day is an unknown, he is under lite sedation for pain and his own safety. To everyone’s surprise Emmanuel has no spinal or neck injuries, not even broken bones besides his ribs.
Medical bills are accumulating daily. Oliva, Emmanuel's mother took a leave of absence from work to be by her son’s side. Making the trip from Dos Palos every day is far to much. So she is staying at the Kiwanis House near UC Davis. Funds raised will go to help the family with medical bills and living expenses for Oliva while staying near her son. They will also go to Emmanuel’s long road to recovery because he is a fighter and will make a 100% recovery!!!
