What’s up, Lovelies?

My name is Georgie Castilla. I am a freelance comic artist and illustrator, and the creator of Duniath Comics. My work is inspired by all things Georgian, Regency, and Victorian; a soft spot for magic and fantasy; an adoration for every shade of pink; and my undying love for Jane Austen’s works. It is a safe space created to celebrate equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in a whimsical and colorful way!

For the past couple of years I have been working very hard on a graphic novel adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, which is projected to come out in December of 2025.

2025 will be a very special year within the Austen community, as we will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, as well as the 210th anniversary of the publication of Emma; and Duniath Comics would love to celebrate this with a new, fresh take on this beloved masterpiece.

I could not be prouder of this adaptation. It remains very true to the source material, while bringing to light moments we normally see off-page and haven’t been shown in other adaptations. This adorable take on Emma makes an effort to portray a more colorful cast of characters than we usually see in Austen adaptations, and strives to create a friendly and accessible port of entry for young and new Jane Austen readers, while delighting long-time Janeites as well.

Of course, no project of this magnitude comes without its challenges, and right now I am facing an unexpected one which has been slowing down the production of the pages. My current tablet, where I create all of my work, is a few years old now, and unfortunately it’s starting to malfunction. Emma is a very big, heavy project, and my current equipment is struggling to handle it. Sadly, at the moment I’m not able to afford upgrading my equipment, and I am racing against time to get the book out as intended.

We are creating this crowdfunding campaign in order to raise the funds needed to upgrade the equipment, and make sure the production of Emma runs as smoothly as possible. It isn’t a crazy amount of money, but I just don’t have it at the moment. We want to meet our deadlines, and we want to get this graphic novel in your hands by the end of 2025, as Duniath Comics would love to celebrate with you 250 years of Jane Austen’s greatness, and 210 years of the beauty and complexity of Emma.
