Emily's Volunteer Trip to Indonesia

Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting my page.
Here's what I've been up to! This past fall I have finished my pre-requisite courses at Delaware County Community College to then be accepted into Thomas Jefferson University’s Vascular Sonography program. Since classes don’t begin for me until this coming fall at Jefferson, I have the perfect opportunity to do something I’ve always wanted to do; travel! Although traveling is always something I’ve wanted, I knew that I could extend myself further to donate my time while doing so.
I have been accepted to volunteer abroad in Southeast Asia Bali, Indonesia with International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ). I will be working on the construction and renovation project among the Balinese community in the city of Ubud for a duration of 4 weeks. My work will be aiding in the development of local schools, orphanages, and improving local infrastructure within the community.
My days will be spent working alongside a local organization lending a hand wherever need be. This could include laying bricks, painting, laying tiles, carpentry, landscaping and gardening. I will be working alongside local Balinese people so I know that wherever I’m lending a hand is truly helping their community.
I have been working as an artist at Painting with a Twist for almost two years now and have been saving my tips for when something like this presented itself. Although I have been saving, traveling expenses have proven to be hefty. With all of the program fees, insurance, vaccinations and flights, I’ve decided to start this funding page to lower the out of pocket expenses I will have as much as possible. I am aiming to raise $3000.00 by April. Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated. Your gift will be used to aid me in my travels to truly make a difference in the communities within Ubud.
