It could happen to you

Meet Emily Sue. She was born in 1944 and is 75 years old. She has been married to her husband Don for 44 years in August! I met Emily Sue in Wall, South Dakota, while we were on vacation! Wall is in the middle on nowhere. I have a dog Emma Zen that rides in a motorcycle sidecar. We talked for so long the day I met her, and we have reminded friends for over 10 years!

She has been a constant source of friendship, knowledge, laughs, and support. I love her so. During a recent phone call, I learned how overwhelmed, anxious, and uncertain she was about a medical issue with her teeth. She told me that when Don and she were younger, dental insurance was something most people didn't even consider. She warned me to "over" protected myself as I grow older, for you have "no" idea what is going to be in your future.

Her lower partial can not adhere to her gums and many teeth need to be removed.  Dental studs and lower dentures need to be made. Between the oral surgery ($10,009.00) and the dentist ($1,864.00). She can not fix the issues until $11,873.00 is paid in full. OUCH!

Yes, dental is expensive, so get insurance for yourself in this area, advice from Emily herself.  Yes, unexpected dental medical is a possibility for us all, so why is it so important to help her? Well for one, Emily Sue has helped so many, I thought it was time for someone to help her. She has been an educator for 30 years and she has always been involved with her church giving back. She is deserving. She is kind. She is supportive. And she is the downright funniest person I have ever met.

Emily Sue and her husband had raised and saved for their senior years. Social security does not allow, even with two seniors in a household, enough funding to rely on if you have any bills. Another thing I have heard her say is to make sure and pay your home off if you have one, while you're young. A family member asked to "borrow" their life savings, $162,000.00, however, they took advantage of them, misappropriated their funds' and they refused to pay it back.

Emily Sue applied for care credit and was given a $3,500 line of credit. She has $1,000 that is in personal savings that can go towards her bill. Leaving the balance at $7,373.00  I hope that some of her "good" family see this and her friends within the community and church. For my friends, I am posting this on Emma Zen's 13th birthday as a way for one to give a gift to Emma Zen! As you know, we have always paid in it forward and this year should be no different.

We thank you for considering aiding a very special person in our lives known as Emmy Sue Pike.
