YWAM FCM (Youth With a Mission's "Foundations for Counseling Ministries" training program)
Since I was young, I have had a deep connection to the pain in others. But how often do we get uncomfortable around pain because we don't know how to help? We know in the very deepest parts of our beings that restoration - wholeness - is our original design.
God intends wholeness for every person. His heart is for restoration, and it IS coming. Until that day, He's set my path before me as one that gets to work towards restoration alongside Him - which fills me both with delight and with reverent fear.
In this program, I'll be learning about family systems, grief, addiction, rebellion & rejection, and root areas of wounding. I'll be growing skills in personal interactions, active listening, Biblical belief renewal, prayer for healing, and intercession. And knowing that life consists of relationship and in fact it's what we're created for, I can't imagine an environment this wouldn't be useful in. After all, only where the Spirit of God is can there be true healing.
The school begins March 29th of 2018. The first phase ends in mid June, but I am uncertain at the moment if God will ask me to take what I learn out into the field overseas first, or if I will be coming back home. He's told me not to plan past those first three months, and I am doing my best to follow.
But I still need help getting there, because wouldn't you know... we aren't meant to step into anything alone. If you should choose to aide me financially, I would be so very thankful.
I believe in the reality of our prayers moving God's heart too - and really, He's the one who makes it all happen.
You can pray for:
-Provision & protection (money, safe travels, etc)
-Open hearts and open doors
-Revelation and understanding
-Breakthrough - for myself, and for those I'll be with
-Courage to grow
-Faith - most of all faith.
I have known for a while that my life is to be given over to the healing of the broken-hearted. And I am so unqualified, yet my heart burns for it. And I wish I could tell you all the ways I know God will use it... but I just know that He will - because I also know that all people have brokenness in their lives, including myself, and that the Father longs to heal His people, and that He invites us work with Him. And I know that I've said yes to Him.
I once read that our dreams our built on the shoulders of those who've dreamed before us, and in that way, we all are working together. Or something like that. But I love the image of how none of us actually avoid doing anything alone. That being said, I would welcome your help, however you choose to give it.
