Emily’s story

Donation protected
Life was pretty normal for Emily this past summer. She was so excited to start kindergarten. We bought her uniforms and school supplies. All she needed was for school to start, But all that took a drastic turn for the worse in late July of this year . She was having swollen lymph nodes, constant fevers, and leg pain that hurt so bad she could not walk on her own. After going from doctor to doctor, several tests had been done and her not getting better, she finally saw another doctor who confirmed she had leukemia . He immediately sent us to Texas Children’s Hospital right away. On July 25, 2017 , our world crumbled when Emily was diagnosed with PRE B ALL( Leukemia.) I thought “ ok any minute you will wake up from this nightmare” but We never did. Emily started treatment pretty quickly. Since July my six year old daughter has had to endure several spinal taps, chemo through the port in her chest, and several blood and platelet transfusions. Doctors said that her treatments will go in for 2.5 years. We are currently in and out of the hospital with her chemo therapy treatments while trying to give her somewhat of a normal life at the same time. There are good and bad days And everything is going so fast we feel like a dark cloud is just hanging over our little family. Emily’ birthday just passed this September and instead of planning a big party for her, she had to spend it in the hospital getting chemo all day long. She asked me “mommy, how can a little girl spend her birthday in a hospital getting chemo?” As a mother, that broke me to the core. Ever hear of that saying “ when it rains it pours?” Well in August Hurricane Harvey hit and our entire house got flooded. We lost everything. And eventually had to move into an apartment. Trials like this make you test your faith, But we have seen God’s will at work and have been blessed with a supportive family who helps out during this difficult time. Because Emily has a long road to recovery ahead any support towards her medical expenses is greatly appreciated on behalf of our family. God bless you from the bottom of our hearts and thank you very much.
