Emily's Medical fund for Premie

Born Dec 4th 2017 at Extremely Low Birth Weight, baby Santiago was 950 gr (2lbs, 1 ounce). His mom, Emily Galindo, was at work when her water broke on a Monday, one day after turning 26 weeks of gestational age. Later that day she was flown 70 miles over the Cascade Mountains to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon.
Santiago's care team is incredible. He is now three weeks old, he's still breathing with help of a CPAP and room air. He has been on breast milk since his first 24 hours of life. After losing some weight he is back to his birth weight and spends between 6 to 8 hours a day resting on mom's chest.
Funds will be used to cover for their medical expenses, gas for travel home back and forth, room for stay in Medford and food. We contacted the state of Oregon for help since Santiago may qualify as a premature baby. We contacted Social Security as well for relief programs for the premature. We are waiting for their answers. The flight cost alone was $48,000. An amazing family let us use their RV and were allowed to park it in the hospital hookups.
We expect our dues to be far above what we are asking here. For that reason, we expect all donations to be used for medical expenses including a reset in our deductibles. We do have insurance and may be aproved for additional benefits from the State. In that scenario, all excess of funds donated here will be shared with the Francis Cheney Family Place for receiving low income family members of far locations.
