Emily's Life

Thank you very much for all the prayers, thoughts, and generous donations that been received by Emily and her family!
Emily in her arduous fight against this brain tumor for the last 8 years has arrived at the limits of medical treatment. Even though her faith is immense and we know that God’s will shall be done, the doctors that have been treating her say there is nothing more that can be done for her but to keep her comfortable. Since November of last year Emily continues to fight for her life and has endured multiple complications in the PICU at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. In December, it was discovered that the tumor had grown, had spread to her spinal column and in turn caused multiple vertebral fractures. In February, due to increased cerebral pressure from the tumor, Emily was not able to close her eyes and eventually needed surgery to remove her cornea which then caused her to also lose the use of her right eye. In order to prevent this happening in her left eye, it was sutured shut and Emily will not ever be able to see again. Over the past three months Emily was scheduled at three different times to go home but each time a new complication prevented that: 1) a urinary infection, 2) her eye issues and now, today, 3) pneumonia. We continue to pray endlessly for Emily. We ask you to please continue to pray for Emily and her family. We also ask for your continued generosity as there remains a $9,000 balance due to the cemetery.

Emily, en su complicada batalla contra este tumor cerebral ha llegado al límite de tratamiento médico. Apesar de que su fé es inmensa y sabemos que la voluntad de Dios es milagrosa, puedan hacer por ella sino mantenerla cómoda. Desde noviembre del año pasado, Emily continúa luchando por su vida y ha superado muchas complicaciones en el PICU del Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. En diciembre, nos enteramos que el tumor había crecido y se había expandido hacia la columna vertebral causando muchas fracturas vertebrales. En febrero, debido al incremento de presión cerebral por el tumor, Emily no pudo cerrar más sus ojos y luego necesitó cirugía para retirar su córnea lo cual le costó su ojo derecho. Para evitar que esto le suceda en el ojo izquierdo, se le suturaron los parpados juntos y no podrá ver nunca más. Durante los últimos tres meses, Emily estuvo a punto de irse a su casa en tres oportunidades pero siempre surgió una nueva complicación: 1) una infección en la orina, 2) el problema de sus ojos, 3) pneumonia. Seguimos rezando por Emily y les pedimos que por favor hagan lo mismo. Tambien les pedimos por su continuada generosidad ya que aun nos quedan para pagar el cemetario $9000.

Emily es una niña bella de Dios de solo 9 años que ha sufrido tremendamente en su corta vida aquí en la tierra. A los 18 meses de edad, fue diagnosticada de cáncer en el cerebro y los médicos le dijeron a su madre, Adriana, que no llegaría a sus 5 años de edad. Ha soportado muchos tratamientos de quimioterapia, radiación y otros tratamientos para cáncer que no han sido efectivos. Recientemente descubrieron que el cáncer se le había regado a la espina dorsal. No hay tratamiento médico que le pueda ayudar, así que ahora estamos preparando a Emily para que vaya al Cielo con Dios nuestro Padre. Nos dedicamos cada día a que esté cómoda y en paz.
Emily es una inspiración para tantas personas, y ha tocado un sinnúmero de vidas en sus 9 años. Recientemente tuvo la dicha de vivir uno de sus sueños que era viajar a Lourdes, France, a pesar de todo, para finalmente sentir la paz de nuestra bendita Madre María. Emily inspiró a los jóvenes que estaban allí a que le ayudaran a ser fuerte y fiel a nuestro Señor y buscar en nuestra madre María amor, protección e intercesión. Emily siempre ha tenido un profundo amor por nuestra Madre María y una vez le pidió a sus padres por una estatua de tamaño real de la Virgen para su hogar.
Emily, al igual que muchas niñas de 9 años, le encantan las princesas de Disney, especialmente Ariel. Pero muy rara vez pedía un juguete. En lugar de pedir un juguete, pedía que la llevaran a la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes a visitar a María y tocar el agua del Groto. La fe de Emily y su devoción a María ha tocado a todos los que la conocen y les inspira a que amen y adoren a María como su madre celestial al igual que ella.
Le pedimos de todo corazón nos colaboren con sus donaciones para costear gastos médicos, utilidades básicas para subsister y cualquier eventualidad que se presente debido a su estado clinico terminal.

Emily is a beautiful 9-year-old child of God who has suffered tremendously throughout her short life here on earth. At 18 months old, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and the doctors told her mother, Adriana, that she would not live past 5 years of age. She has endured many rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries and other cancer treatments that have ultimately not been successful. Recently it was discovered that Emily’s cancer has spread to her spine and now we are faced with preparing Emily to be with God our Father in Heaven as there is no further medical treatment that will help Emily. Each day is now spent trying to make her comfortable and at peace.
Emily is an inspiration to so many people and has touched innumerous lives in her 9 years. Most recently, she was able to live a dream of traveling to Lourdes France, against all odds, to finally feel the peace of our blessed Mother Mary. Emily inspired the youth that were there to help her to be strong and faithful to our Lord and to turn to Mary our mother for love, protection and intercession. Emily has always had a deep love for our Mother Mary and once asked her parents for a life size statue of the Virgin for her home.
Emily, just like many other 9-year-old girls loves the Disney princesses, especially Ariel, but she rarely asked for toys. Instead, she would always ask to be taken to church at Our Lady of Lourdes, to visit Mary and to put her hands in the water at the Grotto. Emily’s faith and devotion to Mary touches all those around her and inspires them to love and adore Mary as their heavenly mother just as she does.
In light of all the sacrifices and financial burden that Emily’s family are enduring, we kindly request that you find it in your heart, to make a donation in aid of medical costs and any future anticipated expenses.
