Emily LouAllen's medical struggle

Please help Emily LouAllen with Medical expenses

Emily LouAllen, my sister in Law and dearest friend needs our help!

Emily’s back story, she was diagnosed with Ehler’s Danlos syndrome a collagen deficiency that affects all connective tissue. However, Emily was diagnosed with a rare case that worsens with age, rather than improving.   In 2009 Emily underwent her 1st surgery in an attempt to correct the connective tissue that was tearing in her right hip. Now 6 hip surgeries later (4 on the right hip 2 on the left hip!) she still cannot perform “normal” everyday routines such as walking across the room or even getting out of a bed.  A simple task of lifting or carrying anything moderately heavy like a loaded grocery bag has become a burden from connective tissues tearing.  All throughout the day her hips, knees and shoulders slip in and out of their socket, yet Emily’s faith and love for Jesus pushes her through with a humble smile!

August of 2017 after her 6th surgery, Emily suffered multiple tears during her recovery and formal therapy.  The Doctor’s stated she could no longer continue to work and received the hard blow of being put on long term disability in November 2017.  After 15 years of hard focused dedication to building her education and achievements in her medical career, in February 2018, Emily had to leave her job as Radiology Supervisor, a job she was faithfully committed to and loved.

Why Emily needs your help!   Per the doctor’s recommendation from August 2017-February 2018 she was in Formal therapy, the therapy was preventing her healing this time and was ordered by her doctor to stop and do complete bed rest.  According to the insurance company Emily should not have been in formal therapy but instead in home therapy and therefore denied the claim.  Both Emily and her doctors have exhausted every effort in the appeals process but to no avail the insurance ultimately denied her claims and appeals.  In addition to all the medical bills, surgeries and Mayo clinic medical expenses she has accrued since 2009 Emily has to now pay $10,000 for the Formal therapy.  As if that weren’t enough, the insurance also has denied coverage for the 7th hip surgery, stating this surgery is considered experimental now.

Emily still has 4 surgeries pending right now and ALL cannot be performed until this therapy bill is paid down.

Right hip – repair torn labrum and place cadaver tissue in hip capsule to close and stabilize

Right Knee – meniscus

Right and Left shoulders – stabilize capsule and evaluate rotator cuff and labrum

Please donate now so she can proceed with these much needed surgeries!

You can help!  Every donation can make a difference!

Many who meet Emily can attest to her graceful demeanor, compassion for others and abiding faith in God.  Her empathic nature, gift of giving coupled with her skill for service is innate to her spirit.  Unwaveringly withstanding this sickness with reticent dignity together with her devoted husband Brad and soon to be adopted son Hunter all humbly and respectfully appreciate anything you can do to help them meet their goal by donating and/or sharing this page.  Thank you for helping Emily get one step closer to healing!
