Emily Garrity's accident recovery

Emily is one of the most creative, funny, outgoing people we have ever met. She brings life everywhere she goes. She is very dear to all who know her.
Emily was hit by a car going 50 mph early Sunday morning, September 03, 2017. She was crossing Kingston Pike to join a celebration for her friends' recent engagement.

Her injuries are very extensive. She has a brain bleed, she has a fractured disc in the neck, a fractured rib, a fractured disc in the lumbar, a fractured pelvis, and a contusion on her spinal cord. They are still finding fractures and torn ligaments as she is able to communicate, such as fractures in her hand. As of September 5, she was able to regain motion in her arms.

To treat her neck injury, she has already undergone surgery to fuse the bones in her neck. The doctors are unsure if she will additional surgeries. Overall, she is beat up pretty bad and is in a lot of pain.

The road to recovery will be long and hard. The doctors are estimating approximately a year with therapy before she is fully recovered. To heal, she is going to need constant care, this is going to require her to go home to Kentucky limiting her ability to have income. This accident is also going to cost her and her family time, money, and undue stress. Additionally, Emily's brother was in a serious car accident on the same day in Memphis, TN. He has extensive internal injuries and will also need care and support from his family, so please keep Emily's family in your thoughts, especially her mother, who is trying to be a care for children at opposite ends of the state.

As friends of Emily, we would like to help her during the recovery process. The best way we can help is with giving and relieving some of the financial burden.
