Emilia Jorge R, (nuestra mama) es una paciente con Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica (EPOC o enfisema como se conoce popularmente) grado IV. Se encuentra hospitalizada en el Instituto Clínico La Florida desde el domingo 26 de octubre. Ingresó con una crisis respiratoria severa que devino en narcosis por CO2. Tras varios intentos de nebulizar y reanimar en la Sala de Cuidados Intermedios reaccionó a ventilación mecánica no invasiva y fue pasada a un cubículo de emergencia. Se espera que sea subida a habitación este martes 28 de octubre donde empezará una hospitalización y recuperación que su neumonólogo tratante, el Dr. Carlos Ruiz, estima como “muy lenta y larga”.
Diariamente, la clínica está exigiendo abonos de factura para poder mantenerla atendida, sólo el día de ayer teníamos un acumulado de BsS. 18.845.777,45 equivalente a 856.62 dólares (el cambio usado fue de BsS. 22000 según indicaciones de la clínica). Para referencia adjunto foto de la factura.
El Dr. Carlos Ruiz nos indicó que estima que mi mama requerirá estar en la clínica entre 7 a 10 días y después de esto, será necesario seguir con el tratamiento de oxigeno a presión en casa mediante el alquiler de un equipo.
Agotamos las opciones de correr con este gasto nosotros, sin necesidad de pedir ayuda, pero lamentablemente está fuera de nuestro alcance.
Mi mama es la persona más luchadora que conozco, todo lo que David y yo somos y hemos logrado en esta vida es gracias a ella que nunca descansó para darnos lo mejor y ayudarnos a ser mejores. Ella tiene unas ganas increíbles de vivir, de conocer y consentir a su niet@ que viene en camino.

Emilia Jorge R, (our mom), is a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, also known as emphysema). She is currently in the Clinical Institute La Florida (Caracas – Venezuela). She arrived with a severe breathing crisis because of an excess of CO2 in her lungs. After many attempts of nebulizing and reanimating her in the ER, against all the odds, she was able to overcome that and has been in the hospital since the 27th of October where she has been slowly recovering from this crisis and being treated by a lung specialist called Dr Carlos Ruiz who estimates that the recovery will be “slow and long.”
The clinic requires payment each day to keep her attended, as of yesterday we had a total spent of 18.845.777,45 BsS equivalent to 856,62 USD.
Dr Ruiz has told us that our mom will require to stay in the clinic 7 to 10 days and after that, she will need the oxygen treatment at home by renting a special equipment.
We have ran out of options to cover these costs ourselves without the need of asking for help, but sadly it is now out of our reach.
Our mother is one of the strongest persons we know, everything David and myself are and have achieved in this life is because of her, she never took a break to give us the best things she could and to help us to be better. She has an incredible willingness to live, to get to meet her grandson/granddaughter who is on its way.
We are asking for your help to get our mother treated, any amount that you can collaborate with we will be eternally grateful.
