On June 23rd our little Emery Lyla was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst (cerebrospinal fluid covered by arachnoidal cells and collagen that develop between the surface of the brain and the arachnoid membrane) that is sitting on the left front hemisphere of her brain. It is currently 10cm wide, 9cm long, and 6cm deep. This diagnoses came as a major shock to the family, considering Emery has no current side effects.
This cyst currently requires a 2 step brain surgery procedure, which entails fenestration of the cyst (making a tiny whole in the cyst and pressure whole in her spine), secondly a shunt to be inserted into the cyst and drain into the abdominal region through a tube. The shunt will be in her head for 2-3 years (God willing best case scenario) until the cyst is fully drained. Unfortunately the cyst cannot be removed due to the size and the inability of the brain to move back so quickly into the vacant spot that the cyst is currently occupying.
Due to this unforeseen circumstance, and considering neurosurgery is costly with so many MRI’s ect.. we are asking for support. Hoping you can make a contribution to help with all of Emery’s surgeries and medical treatments coming her way.
Lastly, even if you may not be able to contribute we ask you to please continue to keep Emery in your prayers as she is scheduled to have the first part of her Surgery September 5th 2018.
