Emerging Water Quality Scholars

                            “You cannot be what you cannot see."

This innovative program introduces fifteen young adults (18 to 24 years old) from New Orleans’ underrepresented  communities to the incredibly diverse range of careers in water quality, stormwater, and utilities at the Water Environment Federation's 2018 WEFTEC conference.

Please help us connect promising local community students, with stipended, work-based learning experiences at WEFTEC- New Orleans (Sep. 29- Oct 3). This program is a grass-roots effort to increase access to sustainable, water infrastructure careers for students from under-represented communities .  

All donations to this page go directly to Limitless Vistas, Inc - a 501(c)(3) non-profit and are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. 

Nationally, water-related  industries represents 1.7 million jobs across a variety of occupations.  Qualified applicants are in short supply due to an aging workforce and the lack of a pipeline for new talent. A concerted effort is needed to provide knowledge about and access to these invaluable jobs – which are available everywhere and for people at all skill levels. 

This experiential learning program introduces young adults from New Orleans to well-paid jobs and careers in water-related industries, including water treatment, stormwater control and flood protection.

The Emerging Water Quality Scholars Program allows participants to:

- Join WEF’s Young Professionals for a hands-on Green Infrastructure service project  and learn first-hand about essential job skills and licensing;

- Tour New Orleans’ world-class stormwater infrastructure, including the world’s largest stormwater pump station, and the historic Lakefront Airport; 

- Meet water treatment and stormwater facility managers, operators, hiring managers and educators to learn about career pathways; and

- Interact with professionals from around the world in WEFTEC's technical sessions, exhibits, and workshops.

        It costs $1,000 to for us to fund each Scholar. Give as much or as little as you'd like - it all helps!

Help these young people discover rewarding careers that can improve their lives and their communities.

By partnering with WEF, Delgado Community College, Limitless Vistas and others we've been able to leverage significant in-kind contributions and support.   However, we're still in need of individual and/or agency sponsors to help make this program a reality.   

Our goal is to raise enough funding to sponsor fifteen to twenty students into this program .  Thank you for your support!
