Emergency Surgery for Evangelos

Dear friends and family,
It is with a heavy heart that we write this letter. Many of you have heard of the recent, tragic accident of our brother in Christ, Evangelos Manginas. Early one morning, Evangelos was in his restaurant, prepping for the day. While carrying a hefty pot of his marinara, he slipped and fell, spilling approximately 40 quarts scalding sauce all over his face, neck, chest, and arms. He was rushed to the ER, where they declared he had serious and extensive second and third degree burns and needed stitches for his right elbow. His right eye was severely impacted and the retention of his vision was nothing short of miraculous. He was prescribed several antibiotics, medicated creams, and bedrest, lest the wounds become infected.
Anyone who knows Evangelos will tell you that even at 60, he is amongst the hardest working men you will ever meet. An American immigrant, his work ethic shaped his character from childhood. He is exceedingly generous, compassionate, and kind. He has a servants heart and a true spirit of hospitality, feeding both body and soul with his homemade meals prepared with much love. He is completely devoted to his wife, Helen Manginas, and six children and experiences the most joy when they are gathered around the table together.
It has been determined that Evangelos needs an intensive skin graft surgery. This will require he take at least 7-14 days off that he cannot afford. Along with the hospital visits, medications, and surgery; projected costs exceed $45,000. Evangelos has no health insurance, nor the funds for this tragic and unforeseen financial burden.
