Emergency Vet Fund for Barkley

Donation protected

Hello friends!
My name is Barkley, I’m ten years old, and I’ve been living in Birmingham with my mummy, Daniela, for 6 happy months. I was a bit shy when she first brought me home. It was all very different from the greyhound races and the Dog’s Trust. But with lots of love and walks and treats and cuddles I soon settled in, and now I can’t imagine being anywhere else!
I go for lots of walks around the parks and Edgbaston Reservoir. I like meeting new people and other doggies, and of course I’m always very friendly and polite to them. And I absolutely love to nap! My favourite way to nap is half-on-half-off my bed with my nose pressed up against the window. I don’t think mummy understands why I do that, but it’s very comfy for me!
Unfortunately, I took a bit of a tumble recently and hurt my leg. I had to spend the night away from home for the first time since getting adopted, which was a bit scary. The nice vet said it would cost £3000 to fix me, which is a lot of money. It would be really, really kind of you to help mummy pay for my treatment and get me all better so we can go for walks again. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, or if you can’t afford to donate then please share the page with your generous friends and family.
Thank you so much for your help, me and my mummy are very grateful.
Love, Barkley.

Daniela's friend Barkley has been quite unlucky recently: not only did he have a problem with his eye but now he has also injured his paw. Daniela has spent a good bit of money on vet costs and medication for Barkley in the last months since she adopted him and as a PhD student money is quite limited.

Barkley's injury is more complicated this time and he needed x-rays taken and an appointment with a specialist as well as having to stay at the vets for at least a night or two. For now all this will cost Daniela at the very least 3000£, very likely more.

Daniela is an extremely kind and caring person who invests a lot of her time and skills in her voluntary position in the APRS (Aston Post Graduate Society) at Aston University Birmingham, where she is doing her PhD at the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics. She is an great friend, amazing colleague, fellow student and passionate tutor and now is the time for the community to give back to her and help her in this difficult time to take care of her beloved Barkley,  who (you might have guessed it) is also a rescue dog who Daniela gave a loving home to.

We will update this fundraiser page frequently, but wanted to get it on the go, so we can start supporting Daniela. Barkley is still waiting on his appointment with the specialist and we keep all fingers and paws crossed that he will be better very soon.

Let's help Dani, so she does not have to worry about the financial side of this very stressful situation. Every little will help, so please, support this and let Daniela focus on Barkley's recovery not worrying about where the money for his treatment will come from.

Barkley loves his plushy companions when he goes for a snooze.
