Emergency surgery for Nepsy

Our sweet dog Nepsy needs emergency surgery. She has battled a chronic mystery illness for years, and today it got to be too much and we took her into the emergency vet clinic. They suspect pyometra (which is fatal), but she is also extremely bloated, her stomach is about the size of a basketball right now. The vet wants to go in and remove her uterus (if she has one, I always thought she was spayed because she’s never gone into heat) and send part of it off for testing. 

We recently had a baby, he is not yet 5 weeks old. I (his mom) can’t bear the thought of losing my best friend while caring for my newborn. On top of the stress of having a newborn during a pandemic, I am struggling with postpartum depression, and Nepsy brings me so much comfort and joy; I know it’s not her time to go right now. 

We are asking for help to cover the costs of her surgery. We have already spent over $2k over the years trying to diagnose and treat her, and our vet funds are spent. She’s our best friend, and we can’t lose her due to financial strain. Any little bit helps.
