Emergency support for Luis

Donation protected
My name is Jamie, and I'm starting this GoFundMe for my father Luis. On Sunday, June 4th, my father was doing what most people do over the weekends; yard work! It was a beautiful sunny morning, with rain in the forecast. My father decided to mow the lawn, but had found someone had broken glass at the end of the driveway. As he went to pick up the mess, he was hit by a car. In front of his own home, simply walking up to the curb. The impact sent him into the next door neighbors yard. The car that hit him left him bleeding and semi conscious on the concrete sidewalk. No one saw the incident, and a passer-by found him and dialed 911. He was rushed to ST. Francis Hospital in Hartford, where a full trauma unit awaited his arrival. He underwent multiple scans, X-rays, MRI, and was found to be clear of brain damage or internal bleeding. He is a walking miracle at this point, just surviving the ordeal alone! He is currently hospitalized with a facial fracture and spinal fracture, swelling, and multiple raw, open wounds. Seeing him like this was devastating! He was unrecognizable on arrival. And the thought of a driver who could do this and leave him for dead just blows my mind, to say the least. The police are involved, as well as the traffic commissioner. I'm hoping to get his story on the local news in an attempt to find the guilty party responsible for this. In the meantime, my father Luis will have to focus on his recovery. I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to offset his recovery time. He is the sole provider of the household, caring for my mother who has multiple disabilities, and my youngest brother, who has aspergers autism. I'm hoping to pay his mortgage payment, car payment, and other household expenses with this fundraiser, as well as help with any insurance copay's, prescriptions, groceries, and any other living expenses he has, in order to help him focus on recovery. On arrival, he continued to insist to the nurses that he "had to go, he had to get ready for work!" My father is a hard working man, who wouldn't ask for help himself. And whenever I have needed help, he has always stepped up to the plate! I hope that I can do the same for him. I understand these are tough times, and everyone has their own financial burdens...but every little bit can help, and if you are unable to donate, please share his story, in case someone you know can help. And if his story circulates, maybe we can find who is responsible for this crime, and hold them accountable for their cowardly actions. Thank you all!
