Yesterday we received a call from a gentleman who was in a situation that he desperately needed help with. In his care he had 70 dogs.
This gentleman out of the kindness in his heart, a few years ago began to take in stray, sick, dumped and unwanted dogs and did his best to care for them. Over time his numbers increased, so too did the cost of looking after them and he was no longer able to afford to get them neutered, vaccinated etc. He got to the point where he struggled to afford to feed them and yesterday his call to us was a cry for help for the sake of his animals.
Yesterday we began to transport the dogs from this man’s premises to ours. In total 50 dogs came to us yesterday, some puppies among them, some heavily pregnant and one who has given birth to 5 puppies since she arrived. 4 elderly dogs have gone to foster with a volunteer and today we will collect the remainder.
We are packed to capacity. This, our friends, is where we ask you to please, please help us. The cost of this mammoth rescue is colossal.
These dogs will all now need to be treated for fleas, wormed and many will need to be treated for mange.
A lot will still need to be neutered/ spayed and all will have to be vaccinated and microchipped.
We know some people won’t understand this situation but the man in question genuinely did his best for his animals. The mere fact he had 70 dogs is a reflection of the pressure people in rescue feel to push themselves to the limit to help animals in need.
Please donate what you can and encourage others to do the same.
