Emergency Recovery Fund for Refugees in Sudan

As of December 2nd, over 46,000 men, women, and children from all parts of Tigray have been displaced from their homes and families by the current conflict happening in Northern parts of Ethiopia. With women and children making up over 50% of all refugees that have fled to Sudan. With this number only increasing and very limited humanitarian aid and resources, it is up to all of us to provide aid as soon as possible.
Sources in Sudan have confirmed that women are delivering babies at a high rate with inadequate care, little to no hygiene products and without the necessary sanitary supplies to facilitate a safe child birth. Mothers, newborns, young women and children are also deprived of basic needs including diapers, menstural products, and clothing.
On December 6th, NextGenTegaru, a group of young diaspora tegaru along with many other members of the DMV community held a clothing drive where we collected donations from throughout the Dc, Maryland and Virginia. We collected new and used clothes, medicine, PPE, first aid, hygiene products, diapers, and much more to send to the refugees in Sudan.
Although the event was amazing and the overwhelming support we received was unquestionable, we received three times more donations than we expected, meaning we have to raise the funds to ship out the items. As a group we are currently aiming to fundraise money to send aid directly to the refugees and a small portion of the donations will be used in order to send the emergency items that we have collected such as First Aid Kits, Masks, Gloves, PPE, Women's reproductive health and hygiene products, baby items such as diapers, wipes and formula, and clothing items for children. Shipping is extremely expensive and we ask that everyone helps us on our collective mission to bring the necessary aid to our refugees in Sudan!
