Our friend Joseph needs our help. He was admitted to the hospital for heart failure on December 6th in South Africa, where his daughter lives, and he is still receiving intensive care as of December 11th. He has been dealing with these medical issues since late November and will likely need to remain there for some time as the doctors work to diagnose the underlying cause. He hasn’t been able to work during this time. In South Africa, medical costs have to be prepaid before procedures can happen. He’s getting daily tests, and we’re working to schedule an endoscopy and a kidney biopsy as soon as possible.

I know Joseph would only reach out for help if he truly needed it, and that moment has arrived. Funds will be used only for his medical care, living expenses, and the essential bills that keep him stable while he is unable to work. Can’t thank you enough, and thank you for coming together as a community to support him and ease some of what he is facing now.

If you have not met Joseph, the center of his world is his daughter... that is what he talks about with the most pride. He is a kind person. He has wandered through life with music as his compass, first onstage as a jazz musician and later behind the board as an audio engineer. He is also working to support other musicians through the DIY record label, Flail Records. He’s funny as heck. He can pull a laugh out of thin air. He has a soft spot for history and for learning, and he holds on to odd facts the way others hold on to small charms they believe might save them.
