Emergency Medical Fund for Kathy Thompson

Kathy had a life-threatening accident on Thursday October 8th, 2020 while in Demopolis, Alabama helping with one of the caravel ships.  She was transported by ambulance to the regional hospital in Demopolis.  The ship's crew contacted Kathy's daughter Grace and informed her of the situation. At the hospital she was assessed and immediately airlifted to University of Alabama - Birmingham Hospital.  She is in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury, skull fracture, and bleeding in the brain.  She has had surgery,  CT scans and multiple procedures to evaluate the extent of her injuries and determine the course of care. Kathy's daughters Gwynneth and Grace and Grace's boyfriend Shane immediately flew down to Birmingham on Thursday.  Kathy's Mom Lynda and sister Narrah drove to Birmingham from Minnesota and arrived on Friday.  Kathy's son Hunter is in Redding CA and is hoping to join Grace and Gwynneth soon.  Kathy's Ships family and family back in Minnesota all love her so much and are waiting and praying. Due to pandemic restrictions, only one visitor is allowed per 24 hour period.  First Grace and now Gwynneth have been by her bedside continuously. Kathy did not have medical insurance and her treatment will be costly.  We want to provide support and help shoulder this burden and allow her to focus on recovering.
