Emergency Medical Expenses for Harley

Harley is a super loving, friendly, cool cat who needs our help. Harley unfortunately was attacked today by my dog, Lexi. He went up to Lexi for friendly boops and she attacked him without warning. It happened so fast that we weren't able to prevent Harley's injuries. Lexi has a history of resource guarding behavior with food and toys, but has never lashed out like this. We are hoping you might be able to help cover some of the emergency vet bill so we can give Harley all of the help he needs, and bring Lexi to a behaviorist for training and medication. 

We rushed Harley to the emergency vet in Chicago today. His nose has a laceration at the base of it, his lip is lacerated as well, and he may also have a fractured jaw. As emergency vet bills tend to be, his is very high. The wonderful emergency staff are taking great care of him right now. They have stabilized him, are sedating him now, and are assessing his injuries. So far, they want to keep him over night on strong pain meds, IV fluids, and will suture his wounds if there is no obvious jaw fracture. If his jaw feels unstable, they want to do skull x rays and possibly take a CT scan of his jaw. If it's broken, he will need to have a board certified dentist wire his jaw back together. 

His overnight care in the emergency room, the medications he is on, the sedation, and suturing of his wounds was estimated to be $3,000. A dental CT, a boarded surgeon, and surgery to fix his jaw will run an additional estimated $3-5K at least. We hope to know more about his condition shortly and plan to keep everyone updated. 

I recognize that this is a really tough time for everyone right now financially due to COVID-19. I too, am struggling. I maxed out my CareCredit card putting down his deposit and have been working two jobs just to try to stay afloat prior to this happening. Any donations, no matter how small, will be so greatly appreciated and will go directly to his emergency medical bills.
