Emergency Funds for Mother and Daughter in Danger

Donation protected
On behalf of Amanda Sue Martin (Coplin), I am appealing to your generosity in order to raise funds to help with daily expenses, legal fees and travel costs for the safe return of Amanda and her 6 year old daughter, Raina.

Amanda married a Bolivian citizen in the United States, her husband also holds American citizenship.  Eventually her husband convinced Amanda to move to Bolivia where he promised they would have a very comfortable and happy life.  Amanda sold everything she owned in order to move to Bolivia with her husband and her daughter (from a previous relationship).

Once in Bolivia, her husband's behavior changed significantly. He has subjected Amanda to extreme physical, financial and psychological abuse. He started going out until late hours, came home drunk and became unfaithful to the extreme of soliciting the services of prostitutes.  He began physically abusing Amanda and Raina.  In September he abandoned their apartment, but not before he stole both Amanda and Raina's passports, the debit card for Amanda's child support from Raina's biological father and all the remaining money from the sale of her possessions (approx. $10,000).

Amanda has filed charges against him with the local police but without the necessary means she is unable to afford a lawyer to help with her situation.  Amanda does not know many people in Bolivia except for a few acquaintances.  She has made do with what she has been able to scrape up to take care of her and Raina's basic everyday living expenses but that money is running low and it has become difficult to pay utilities and school fees.

Amanda needs urgent help to cover living expenses and assist in a prompt return to the United States.  Bolivia is in total social and political upheaval since the October 20th presidential elections and Amanda and Raina live in an area where street blockades, riots, tear gassing and pillaging are an everyday occurrence.  American citizens can be subjected to harassment and mistreatment by President Evo Morales' followers.  The US Embassy has issued a red alert for US citizens in Bolivia, so it is imperative she and Raina get to the safety of the US as quickly as possible.

If you have it in your heart to help to save Amanda and Raina from this terrible situation please donate, every little bit helps.  We thank you for sharing, as well.  We appreciate everything that you can do to help.
