Dee Coco Johnson, is a vocalist, mother, friend, and one of the most giving people you could ever know. Being the giver that she is, it is very difficult for her to ask for help when she needs it… so I’m asking on her behalf.
In 2010, Dee was diagnosed with cervical cancer and in typical Dee Dee fashion, she kept it to herself. She went through all the craziness alone for the most part. During this critical time in her life… Dee needed help, but didn’t ask for it.
Fast forward to 2018, three weeks ago she ended up in the emergency room. After extensive testing, she was diagnosed with extreme anemia caused by very long and heavy menstrual cycles. A biopsy was ordered. The results determined that the cancer had not returned. To eliminate the chances of a relapse, and to alleviate her of constant pain, as well as, other potentially dangerous symptoms she has been experiencing… she has opted to undergo a hysterectomy.
As we all know, Dee is the consummate entertainer, and what she does requires enormous physical strength and endurance. The recovery time after her operation is estimated to be 6-8 weeks. This means that she will have to cancel all performing dates in September and possibly part of October.
Working as performing artist, as you know, does not guarantee security. Entertainment being her sole income... the inability to perform will be a great hardship for her.
The goal is to relieve Dee of her financial burdens during her 6-8 week recovery period. We are looking to raise $15,000 on her behalf, to assist her in her time of need with her monthly expenses such as rent, food, utilities, babysitting and other basic needs.
Music is her life, and she doesn't seem to show signs of stopping anytime soon. Through your generous contribution... we can collectively help make Dee’s healing process all the less painful.
