Funding Flemington Rescue For The Future, Today

Today and always, the Flemington-Raritan First Aid & Rescue Squad (FRFARS) is on the front lines serving our community delivering exceptional emergency care. We are an emergency medical services and rescue services provider covering over fifty square miles of Flemington Borough, Raritan Township, portions of Delaware and Readington Townships, and surrounding areas. The squad is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week to answer any 9-1-1 dispatched emergencies. The organization includes over sixty volunteer EMTs, as well as non-EMTs, supportive members, and EMTs in training.
Emergencies do not take days off, and COVID-19 has impacted the responses, treatments, and strategies that FRFARS EMTs deploy on a daily basis. Typically, the squad responds to as many as 10 emergencies per day. While our routine calls such as car accidents, heart attacks, fractures, and strokes continue, we have also seen an increase in calls related to infectious respiratory illness as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. These uncertain times contribute an additional layer of stress to our volunteers and staff as well as their families.
Our day-to-day operations now include numerous challenges, such as
● Preparing for each emergency as if the virus is present.
● Providing and maintaining the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) for the safety and well-being of both the patients and the first responders.
● Vigilantly disinfecting rigs and equipment with specialized cleaning products, procedures, and devices before and after each emergency call.
● Sustaining adequate staffing levels.
Despite these challenges, FRFARS is overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and kindness we have received to date. We are grateful for each of you and are honored to serve our community. While this pandemic will eventually come to an end, our commitment and service to you will continue. Rest assured that we will be here for you to provide exceptional care on a daily basis throughout the year.
