Emergency Eye Surgery for Doug

When we hear Doug Bowie’s name, it most likely conjures up thoughts such as friend, coach, supporter and and love for his gift to us ... the lifelong game of tennis. Over the years, Doug has helped so many of us become a better form of ourselves.
The last thing he wants to do is to ask for help, but if you feel led, please continue reading. Doug has to have emergency eye surgery to save his vision. Right now, he has little to no vision in his left eye and minimal vision in his right eye.
A little history:
Doug has known that he has a cataract in his right eye for some time. He was told at the time of diagnosis that it was then stable, allowing him to try to wait until he is Medicare eligible for repair. Three weeks ago however, his situation deteriorated rapidly. He suffered a detached retina in his other eye necessitating emergency reattachment surgery. The following day he experienced complications due to capillaries bursting in that eye leaving him now with no vision in his left eye and minimal vision in his right eye. Furthermore during this time his opthamologist re-evaluated the condition of his right eye (the one with a cataract) and explained to him that if he doesn't get it repaired in the next 2-3 months he will most likely have permanent and complete vision loss in that eye.
In addition to being our friend, Doug has invested his heart and soul teaching generations (literally) of families the joy of tennis in our community. My hope is that if each one of us within this community donate to this fund (any amount is greatly appreciated) Doug will be able to continue inspiring us to bring out the best in ourselves for many more years to come.
