Emergency COVID19 Response by Youth in Kenya Slums

Donation protected
My name is Isaac Muasa. I'm the coordinator of the Mathare Environmental One Stop Centre, based in the Mathare informal settlement of Nairobi, Kenya. Mathare is the second-largest slum in Nairobi and home to about 500,000 people.

As of March 22nd, we established 2 hand-washing stations and as of now, we have expanded to 23 stations. We have washed hands of more than 108,000 people in these hand-washing stations. However, we haven't covered all parts of this community. We would like to expand to ensure everyone washes their hands so as to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the course of the next month, we will create 10,000 free masks for community members. We are following the directive of wearing masks in accordance to a new World Health Organization directive that masks should be used as a way to prevent the spread of the crown virus.

We ask you to provide $ 1.25 support for each mask. If we buy each mask at $1, we will be able to buy in bulk as a result of your contribution/support. We can get 100 masks for $ 75 at a discount. We will negotiate with the mask makers in our community so as to fight COVID-19 pandemic together through provision of masks.
