Emergency Assistance House Fire

My name is Michelle and I started this GoFundMe for my sister, Stephanie and her partner Jim, who lost their home in the Northern California fire.  They were awoke in the middle of the night by there dog, giving them just enough time to grab a couple items and escape with the pets.  The house was on fire when they left.


While insurance will pay for some, it is a huge loss (you can see the picture included, their house was the one right across from the playground.)  They lost vehicles and everything in their home.  As with many of us, some vehicles, while needed, were older and not insured for replacement.


I think what breaks my heart the most is they bought a fixer upper 2 years ago and put in non-stop sweat and tears to turn it into a home.  Every weekend was spent doing renovations, and they put in the labor.  Jim painted the house himself, and only had a little bit to finish.


Why did Jim work so hard to make a nice home?  He lost his 1st home to foreclosure due to his wife’s decade long battle with cancer.  He worked as much over time as he could to re-establish his credit.  For my sister?  This was her first home.


There are many needing assistance in this time of tragedy, and my goal is help ensure that such good people get consideration and any assistance possible, and to share what impact this fire has caused.


Funds are needed for clothes, pet foods, food, and toiletries.  They have nothing for day-to-day living.  It’s so hard to think you wake up in the morning and everything you own is gone.  Everything.  Childhood photos, the memorabilia left from those who have passed, the items you spent so much time picking out…..
