Fundacion Casas de los Sueños needs your help to provide poor families in Bogotá’s Barrio Unir 2 with food packages.
Barrio Unir 2
The foundation works in Barrio Unir 2, a shantytown on the western outskirts of Bogotá. There are no paved roads and most people have no access to running water. Life in the neighborhood is characterized by poverty, violence, and drug and alcohol abuse. Before the COVID-19 crisis, most people earned just enough in the informal economy to pay for their daily livelihoods. The quarantine made this basic way of living practically impossible.

Life in Barrio Unir 2 is particularly challenging for children. Before COVID-19, Casas de los Sueños organized activities for the children of the district. Participating in these activities takes their mind off the harsh realities of daily life and supports them in developing various useful skills. The foundation’s activities are essential to many of these children, since parents usually don’t have access to institutions such as healthcare and education.
Food packages
As a result of the quarantine, the foundation had to stop its regular programming. The situations of the families they support is, however, increasingly dire. Casas de los Sueños started with the most basic and necessary form of aid: distributing food packages. At the moment of writing the foundation has been able to provide over 700 food packages to more than 60 families. While the quarantine continues, more and more people are in need of the foundation’s assistance.

With your help, the foundation will be able to help more families in Barrio Unir 2, providing them with products like fruits, vegetables and cooking oil. The foundation also aims to expand the aid packages with hygiene products such as soap, toilet paper and face masks. With 5 euros, the foundation is able to compile an aid package that will benefit a family of 4 for a week.

Fundacion Casas de los Sueñosheeft jouw hulp nodig om arme gezinnen in Bogotá's Barrio Unir 2 van voedselpakketten te voorzien.
Barrio Unir 2
De stichting werkt in Barrio Unir 2, een sloppenwijk aan de westelijke rand van Bogotá. Er zijn geen verharde wegen en de meeste mensen hebben geen toegang tot stromend water. Het leven in de buurt wordt gekenmerkt door armoede, geweld en drugs- en alcoholmisbruik. Vóór de COVID-19-crisis verdienden de meeste mensen net genoeg in de informele economie om in hun dagelijkse levensonderhoud te voorzien. De quarantaine maakte hier een einde aan.

Het leven in Barrio Unir 2 is bijzonder moeilijk voor kinderen. Voor de uitbraak van het coronavirus organiseerde Casas de los Sueños activiteiten voor de kinderen van de wijk. Door deel te nemen aan deze activiteiten worden ze afgeleid van de harde realiteit van het dagelijks leven en worden ze ondersteund bij het ontwikkelen van nuttige vaardigheden. De activiteiten van de stichting zijn essentieel voor veel van deze kinderen, niet in de minste plaats omdat ouders vaak geen toegang hebben tot gezondheidszorg en onderwijs.
Voedselpakketten
Als gevolg van de quarantaine moest de stichting haar reguliere programmering stopzetten. De situaties van de gezinnen die de stichting steunt, wordt echter steeds nijpender. Casas de los Sueñosbegon met het verlenen van de meest noodzakelijke vorm van hulp: het uitdelen van voedselpakketten. Op het moment van schrijven heeft de stichting meer dan 700 voedselpakketten kunnen verstrekken aan meer dan 60 gezinnen. Terwijl de quarantaine doorgaat, hebben steeds meer mensen de hulp van de stichting nodig.

Met uw hulp kan de stichting meer gezinnen in Barrio Unir 2 helpen door hen producten zoals fruit, groenten en bakolie te leveren. Daarnaast wil de stichting de hulppakketten uitbreiden met hygiëneproducten zoals zeep, toiletpapier en gezichtsmaskers. Met 5 euro kan de stichting een hulppakket samenstellen waar een gezin van 4 personen een week profijt van heeft.
