Emergency Support during the Coronavirus crisis.

Suubi Teen MOPS in Uganda is a licensed NGO that provides vocational and practical support for teenage mothers in the slums of Kampala Uganda.  Unfortunately, the COVID-19 virus is also in Kampala.  The government has imposed a lockdown.  Our women are not allowed to sell the handcrafted goods they produce.  And they are forced to shelter at home in their tiny slum houses with their children.  We have raised the support for their children to attend school.  But the schools are now closed to prevent the spread of the virus.  The children had received 2 meals at school.  Now our teenage mothers are unable to work and have to pay rent and food for the unknow time of lockdown.  Normally we are a big supporter of equipping them to earn their own living.  But this situation is not normal.  We need to help provide the bridge of support they need to survive this period of lockdown. We want to give each woman a salary to make crafts for the future Suubi gift shop.  They will remain busy at home, but still, be able to pay their own bills.   There are 35 women with 46 children in the group.  Each family needs  85 Euros/100 USD a month for food, and rent. They will make handmade soap, beads, and bags during the lockdown.  We already have the money we need to help support them in April.  We think this support will be needed for at least 4 months.  So this is why we ask for the funds to cover our women for 3 additional months.  If you think you can adopt one of our families for the period of this lockdown, we would be very grateful.  We are glad for any donation big or small.  we realize the entire world is overwhelmed.  Thank you for your kind consideration.
