Art therapy Trauma Response for Children

Donation protected
Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team  is rooted for immediate trauma response after helping the Sandy Hook School community in Newtown, CT.  Established as the first mental health program specifically in response to the shooting, the Founding Director, Nicole Porter Davis, MA ATR-BC, LCAT sustained programming for eighteen months as permanent local programming was established.

Since then the Emerald Sketch acts to respond to  disasters for child trauma response.  The work primarily has focused on communities post massacre as such horrors are all too prevalent.  Now during pandemic the need for child advocacy nationwide is heightened.

Here is what we are doing now locally in New York: 2020 is the first year the Emerald Sketch ART is sponsoring two professionals working in the field, awarding Emerald Sketch Art therapy Merit Awards.  Javere Pinnock and Lissa Carabajo are the inaugural recipients. Both trained members of the Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team Pinnock is working on the frontlines of Covid in Brooklyn, NY, while Carabajo provides trauma services for migrant children being fostered in Yonkers, NY.

Pandemic Response early childhood trauma services intervention in Columbia County, New York.  Through community outreach the Emerald Sketch is providing ongoing services for children and families who seem to indicate a need for early childhood art therapy intervention.

For Christmas we are providing a Secret Santa gift delivery for the children in this program in Columbia County.

We have a combination of child advocacy programs for immediate trauma response including our Brooklyn born Black Children Matter movement, as well as ongoing child and family trauma response due to the prolonged pandemic.  Davis  continues to train clinicians globally throughout the pandemic on how to educate a devastated nation on art terapy heals, asses the need for trauma therapy services, and then provide.   Making new connections within the New York and national system.  There needs to be a sudden surge of awareness and upset regarding the care of the American lower class children and families.  Child advocacy continues to be the forefront of this mission, as most of the proceeds raised now go directly toward art therapy services for children in the greatest need of trauma recovery.  During the pandemic the Emerald Sketch is virtual and local.

Best case scenario this GoFundMe campaign raises enough funds to maintain art therapy services for thousands of American children and families during the endurance of this pandemic.  The Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team professionals are trained and prepared across the nation from Newtown, Connecticut to California, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, South Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, and many more.

Join us, and truly let's continue to help children and families heal when support is needed most, now during this deep dive into what seems like the darkest Winter of our lives.  All funds have a direct impact. We are putting presents under Christmas trees.  Be a part of this beautiful expanding movement and we will keep you informed as all good news evolves for child advocacy, our children, and New York state.

The Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team needs support to stand strong, and maintain services across the nation throughout all this devastation.

Trauma is the result of a deeply distressing experience.

Trauma needs to be treated, or the emotional distress will most likely compound.

Trauma Response should happen now! Not when the Senate finally resolves a stimulus. Clinicians in place are ready and in need of greater resources. Lawyers and caregivers are also asking for trauma therapy for themselves.
