Embry Rucker Meals from Root & Stem Catering

TO OUR COMMUNITY:

The Root & Stem business model was simple, to create great memories. Through local food and warm hospitality. For our clients, it meant being a part of some of their life changing moments. But it was equally as important to us to have these great memories created with our staff and with our vendors. These are the people whose tireless efforts created and pushed our company forward day in and day out.

FAMILY MEAL

When COVID-19 hit and our business revenues went away this idea of creating great memories became almost impossible. We had little to no clients, not enough money to continue to support our staff and nothing to keep our vendors in business either. We immediately shifted to our Family Meal program, while we couldn't pay our staff their normal wages and had no events to give them hours, we were going to make sure we used whatever money we had saved and dedicate it to feeding our staff and any vendors that were also out of work.

EMBRY RUCKER SHELTER MEALS

Cornerstones  is a nonprofit organization serving Northern Virginia that promotes self-sufficiency through support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other services. The Embry Rucker Community Shelter provides healthy and safe emergency housing and supportive services to homeless individuals and families enabling them to work toward a goal of self-sufficiency. With the COVID-19 crisis affecting so many families and individuals, your help is needed now more than ever. 

OUR PLAN

Your donation will go directly to cover the cost for food and to provide work for a workforce that desperately needs it.  This shelter serves a large number of people at the center and we are in need of raising money to offset these costs. Breakfast meals will serve 100, lunch meals serve 60 and dinners served 120. We will provide healthy, delicious meals made in our commercial kitchen safely and with love. We are still in the business of making memories through food and hospitality and now more than ever a warm meal has never meant more. To the vendor selling the ingredients, the prep cook making the food, the delivery driver delivering it and to the person eating it. This is the experience we all need now.

YOUR SUPPORT

Restoration Reston church  has already signed on to cover the expenses for the first entire day of meals. We will serve these meals on week from today on April 23rd. We are asking for your support to help us cook more meals. This will be an ongoing fundraiser and every Monday we will see where we are in the goal and provide the most food we can. Our weekly goal will be $2,000 to serve an entire days worth of meals and to give some needed hours to our staff. You can follow our progress on these meals and our family meal on instagram 
Any client or individual that donates $250 or over will receive a voucher for a drop off catering luncheon at their home or office for up to 10 guests. 
Any company or individual that donates over $1,000 will receive a voucher for a full service catered dinner for up to 8 guests at their home featuring local sourced cuisine paired with local wines and beers. 
Both vouchers can be redeemed as soon as we get back to work. But in the meantime help us help others.
