Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read and support our friend Flora!
The pandemic has been a brutal time for families that were already vulnerable and struggling with financial hardship pre pandemic. Our friend Flora, and her two boys Atem (9) and Kuol (6), are in an incredibly difficult situation with no end in immediate sight. Due to the pandemic, Chicago Public Schools have been closed since March of 2020, and Atem and Kuol have been at home since then doing school remotely. At the same time last year, Flora’s job as a taxi cab driver was halted. Flora would love to get back to work but because schools are still not completely open, it has been tough for her to find a job and still be able to care for her boys. On top of an already mentally, emotionally, and socially difficult time, Flora’s marriage has broken and she is effectively a single mom trying to make ends meet with no help.
We kindly ask if you are able to, please help Flora and her boys. They are struggling to pay rent and bills. As an immigrant family (Flora is South Sudanese), they have a limited local safety net. And we know that Flora has many dear friends across the world. Therefore, we have put together this online giving campaign to make it easier for all of us to directly support Flora.
Any amount would be greatly appreciated to help her care for her boys, remove immediate financial stressors, and create some breathing room to plan for the future.
