<div>The Bashir family has been on a difficult emotional and mental journey since a devastating house fire on August 13, 2023, left them without a home and shattered their sense of security.

<div>Every day this past year has been a struggle to survive without the stability of a permanent residence. Mr. Bashir, a Navy veteran who honorably served for 8 years, has relied on limited veteran resources to support his family through this trying time. While these resources helped during the post aftermath of the fire, the family continues to face the overwhelming challenge of finding permanent housing.

<div>Unfortunately, the insurance compensation they received was insufficient, according to multiple professionals, and those funds have long since run out. Although the adults in the household have returned to work, the financial burden of covering basic needs without stable housing has been overwhelming

<div> —especially as Mr. Bashir faces new medical challenges. In September 2024, during an annual colonoscopy, doctors discovered cancerous tumors, adding a significant burden to the family’s already difficult situation. Just as the family was starting to recover, Mr. Bashir now faces surgery on November 1st to remove the tumor confined to his colon. While we are thankful it was discovered in time, the financial strain of being out of work for over a month due to this medical issue has only increased their hardship.

<div>Despite their best efforts to get back on their feet, the costs have become insurmountable, and the need for assistance is urgent. Living without stable housing has proven just as costly as maintaining one. Although counseling has provided some relief from the emotional toll, the family remains in desperate need of a permanent solution. We understand that times are tough for many, and asking for help is never easy. Mr. Bashir has hesitated to share his GoFundMe, as it hasn’t gained much traction since it was created after the house fire.
