Help for Beirut
As if the severe economic deterioration and the sharp spike in Covid cases were not enough, a huge explosion has now hit and devastated Beirut leaving a trail of despair and more suffering for the local communities. The extent of the tragedy and damages is beyond words: the number of deaths is unfortunately likely to rise and 300,000+ people now left homeless will be directly impacted by the soon to come food and basic needs shortages.
NGOs like the Red Cross, Lebanese Food Bank and Save the Children are actively working on providing immediate relief and we urge you all to continue to support them as they need our donations more than ever.
Nevertheless as classmates and friends of Bassem and Alex, we have decided to proactively help. Some of us travelled to Lebanon in June 2019 for the first time on an amazing tour organized by Bassem and not only discovered a beautiful country with an extraordinary landscape but also the immense generosity and a strong sense of love for life the Lebanese people are born with. Today we wish to give back by raising funds to enable Bassem and Alex to help people who have been heavily affected by this disaster.
Funds will be safely allocated and distributed as part of our code of ethics and conduct. Bassem and Alex will be providing us with details and regular updates on the impact our donations will have on people’s lives. So please ensure you enter below your email address to be included in the emailing communication pool.
We are limiting the fundraising call to our class only due to the challenges with the international bank transfers.
Please help us help them by making a donation today. We greatly thank you in advance for your generous contribution.
