Anderson Adoption

It’s hard to know how to start something like this, so I supposed I should just jump right in. Kevin and I have been struggling to get pregnant for the past two and a half years. We have mourned our inability to conceive, and have gone through a journey of heartbreak in the early years of our marriage. We have spent countless nights in tears and in prayer that God would allow us to be parents. Ultimately, God has provided for us in every way during this journey even when it felt like He was ignoring us. He has brought us to a place of understanding that life comes from Him alone, not anything Kevin and I could or couldn’t do to try to conceive. He has revealed to me my brokenness and misplaced identity in the ability to bear children, instead of my actual identity which should be found in Christ’s love and sacrificial death for me. Our hearts have been brought to a place of surrender before the cross, desiring that our lives should look and be whatever Christ has called us to.. even if that meant never having children.

 

Last Wednesday night, God did nothing short of a miracle in our lives. We received an email from a woman who heard our marriage journey through a mutual friend. She said she heard about us and couldn’t think of a more loving environment for her child to be raised in. At 10pm, our lives changed when she asked us if we would consider giving her unborn baby a family.

 

We are moving forward in this journey with her, and are still in awe of God’s love for us. She is due at the beginning of December (7 weeks), and is located in Arizona. There are hundreds of challenges to overcome in this process. One of which is money. We have been quoted that the adoption cost will be around $13,000. Being a newly married couple, we are not in the financial position to be able to afford that.
