Elysium, heaven on earth,

Hi my name is John,

For nearly 2 years now I have suffered with my mental health and continue to suffer since the loss of my 15 year old son Jake on the 17th July 2020, this was an accident and should have never happened.

Unfortunately I lost my son to the most taboo subject known to us all, that some don't even like to hear the word and associate it with weakness and numerous other things.

I am going to change that stigma.

In most cases I truly believe that most deaths this way are in actual fact accidents, I know every story is different and has its own complexities.

It is my aim to work with people of all ages concentrating on familes suffering with mental health and give them the tools they need to help them live an happy, healthy life.

I will be working on raising awareness in basic human kindness and compassion, mental health and suicide prevention.

I will be doing the majority of my work voluntary and funding as much of it as I possibly can.

My first target is to gain a plot of land sizable enough for a retreat for families suffering and utilising the great outdoors mother nature herself inteded us to.

As an ex royal engineer I will be utilising this land to do bushcraft, shelter building, improvised pallet buildings as base camps, and even memorial areas for loved ones to remain with us. I will also be doing organised walks in some of our beautiful national parks.

I will be working on videos to help people through utilising social media, talking about dealing with mental health and coming through the other side of grief, still knowing we can be happy with our loved ones in our hearts.

I don't ever want anyone to suffer the trauma I have through losing my son and I will dedicate my life around my own family towards helping others. Although I know my family will be right by side as Jake is and always will be.

The camp name will be Elysium, meaning heaven on earth. As it is not our time yet and we need to realise we can have our happiness truly right hear right now.

I have enrolled on my first mental health course working with childrens mental health, which I am excited to finally get the ball rolling.

I will be putting myself through these courses to assist more in the bigger picture.

I will be doing events and fund raisers to raise more money and utilising revenue from social media to support this project.

I know this is a huge project and I personally will fund the entire lot myself through my entire life time if necessary in order to doing this, just saving one persons life will be something truly spectacular, as we all matter.

We are all unique and important.

I will post videos through my social media links as to events and fundraisers.

I will be looking at other organisations and charities through the country and hopefully globally at some point, to work along side them, I have already met some amazing personalities who want to work together and some amazing friends in similar situations.

This can be huge working with others already established to compliment each others areas and the differences in needs, it doesn't need to stop at 1 plot of land, others could have charitable mental and physical fitness gyms.

All it takes is one pebble dropped in the ocean, I want to see how far those ripples go, each and everyone of you are important to me and with my son Jake in my heart and right beside me, I will be making the difference needed hopefully with an entire nation having my back.
