HELP US GIVE CHILDREN IN KITUI A BRIGHTER FUTURE
I’m travelling to Kenya with a group of university students this June. Our project seeks to help poor children in Kitui (Kenya) have better future prospects by significantly improving their primary school facilities. What will we do in Kitui?
Our plan is to help develop Ithimani Primary School in Kitui—specifically, to rebuild and refurbish classrooms, build a kitchen and a pit latrine. 
Why Kitui needs attention
Kitui county has a rapidly growing population and it is primarily agricultural. However, water scarcity, falling food production, increasing food insecurity, low resilience to climate change and environmental degradation mean that many children from poor families have a very uncertain future ahead of them.  Their low literacy levels, poor nutrition and dismal health prospects are not helped by the fact that their local primary school is very poorly equipped: its dilapidated buildings have very inadequate classrooms, no proper cooking facilities and unhealthy sanitation services. 
Our goal is to rebuild and refurbish classrooms, build a kitchen (as meals are traditionally provided to children at school in Kenya) and construct a pit latrine.
IMPORTANT: these funds will go ENTIRELY towards bricks and mortar—they will NOT cover volunteers’ expenses.
