Getting back home for Granny

In the early hours of this morning, I received a phone call that no one wants to get. My mom called me crying to tell me that my Granny had unexpectedly passed away. This tugged at my heart so much, not only because I lost my dear grandmother but also because I am on the opposite side of the world from her. Being so far away and feeling like there was nothing I could do. I moved away to Sydney, Australia, and it has by far been one of the most challenging experiences being so far away from home and family. Technology has definitely made it easier to keep in touch, but it’s never the same as actually being with some one. My Granny loved playing dominos, spending time with people, and working her puzzles. She was a strong woman of faith and such an inspirational lady. I just surprised all of my family in May with a trip back home. It was a much-needed time to spend with my family. I loved showing up to my Granny’s house the day before Mother’s Day to surprise her. I’ll never forget the look on her face. My Granny was my last grandparent left. I lost my Pop, Grandmama, and Grandpa all to cancer. I think this time it hits a bit harder because my Granny’s passing was unexpected. I feel like I didn’t even get to say goodbye. I spoke to her a few days ago, and we were making plans for my next visit home, and now my next visit is going to be without her. I really would like to fly home to have some closure and be with my family during this time, but money is really tight, especially when it comes to flying across the world. I would truly appreciate any help I could get with this. I would be indebted with kindness towards you.
