This is our Mother Elsa! She was the first love in all 7 of our lives. We call her mami, mama, and Magay! She is 67 years old and is full of life, love and laughter!
She came from the Dominican Republic to NYC at the age of 23 and has never looked back. She has seven children named Giseli, Frederick, Alexis, Agueda, Luis, Yesenia and Albis. Yes! In that order. She also has 18 grandchildren whom love her to the moon and back.
She came to this country to make a better today for all of us, and she has!
Raising 7 children as a single parent she's created a strong foundation for all of us. Giseli graduated Hunter College with Honors, Alexis is an entrepreneur and owns his own business, Agueda is talented beyond measure and can create anything and everything, Luis is a musical artist, Yesenia is a successful Manager, and Albis is one of the best cooks you'll ever encounter. It's hard not to think about what life what of been like if she didn't work day in and day out to provide a better tomorrow for us. She is the glue that holds the family together and having her in our lives means everything to every single one of us.
On August 2004 we received devastating news. After going in for her yearly tests followed by medical procedures, blood draws and CT/MRI scans. Images revealed that there was a mass in her right kidney. The mass was unoperable and doctors shared that her entire right kidney needed to be removed. With Gods grace the operation was succesful, she has lived 12 years with only her left kidney and no health issues at all.
Until now.
On August 28, 2016 they found a mass in her only kidney. The left side. We were very fortunate to hear that this time it was operable and so the doctors removed the mass alongside a chunk of the kidney. A year later on June 14th 2017, we received a call that my mother was running errands and all of a sudden collapsed and lost consciousness. She was immediately taken into the E.R. Where doctors asked a million questions and suggested it might have been dehydration but to rule out all probabilities they wanted to conduct some tests and ensure everything was ok. After several CT and MRI's they shared news that changed our lives forever. There was two masses on her brain that metastasized from her kidney. One in the frontal lobe and the other in the back of the right side of the brain. Further studies also indicated that there is a mass in her thyroid gland and in her left kidney.
We don't ask why because we believe that everything happens for a reason, even if we don't understand it. We just knew that this woman, our mother Elsa Garcia was going to live to FIGHT every single day from that day forward. It isn't easy to accept the harsh reality that we need financial help. My Brothers and sisters and I humbly ask that you make a donation to help my mother with her treatments. Every dollar helps. We have decided to do both conventional and Holistic medicine. Believe it or not we live in a world where not all treatments are covered and we need to ensure that she is receiving the best possible treatment. The funding will help cover treatments that are not covered by her health insurance, doctors visits, and transportation.
We are beyond grateful to our family and friends who are praying for us, and who are standing alongside our path this journey. We believe that God doesn't give you Cancer so we will not allow our mother to be taken if it is not her time. Thank you for helping us fight this monster alongside of us. La crianza de 7 hijos como madre soltera ha creado una base sólida para todos nosotros. Giseli se graduó de Hunter College con honores, Alexis es un empresario y es dueño de su propio negocio, Agueda tiene talento sin medida y puede crear cualquier cosa y todo, Luis es un artista musical, Yesenia es un Gerente de éxito, y Albis es uno de los mejores cocineros que usted alguna vez aya Conocido.
Es difícil no pensar en lo que la vida seria si no trabajaba día tras día para proporcionar un mañana mejor para nosotros. Ella es el pegamento que mantiene a la familia unida y tenerla en nuestras vidas significa todo para cada uno de nosotros.
En agosto de 2004 recibimos noticias devastadoras. Después de ir para sus pruebas anuales. Después de muchos exámenes médicos, de sangre y de CT / MRI, las imágenes revelaron que había una masa en su riñón derecho. La masa era inoperable y los médicos compartieron que todo su riñón derecho necesitaba ser removido. Con la gracia de Dios la operación fue exitosa, ella ha vivido 12 años con su riñón izquierdo y sin problemas de salud en absoluto.

Fuimos muy afortunados de saber que esta vez fue operable y en poquito tiempo los médicos la operaron y eliminaron la masa junto a un pedazo de riñón. Un año más tarde, el 14 de junio de 2017, recibimos una llamada que mi madre estaba haciendo recados y de repente se derrumbó y perdió la conciencia. Ella fue inmediatamente llevado a la E.R
Donde los médicos hicieron un millón de preguntas y sugirieron que podría haber sido la deshidratación, pero para descartar todas las probabilidades que querían llevar a cabo algunas pruebas y asegurarse de que todo estaba bien. Después de varios TC y MRI compartieron noticias que cambiaron nuestras vidas para siempre. Habían dos masas en su cerebro que metástasis de su riñón. Mis hermanos y hermanas humildemente les pedimos que hagan una donación para ayudar a mi madre con sus tratamientos. Cada dólar ayuda. Hemos decidido hacer la medicina convencional y holística. Lo creas o no, vivimos en un mundo donde no todos los tratamientos están cubiertos y debemos asegurarnos de que está recibiendo el mejor tratamiento posible.
