Elliott Family Hurricane Fund

Donation protected
This one of my dearest friends Jennifer Kuks-Elliott and her two grandbabies Brooklyn and Bentley.  I worked with her at MDU.  Their lives have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey.  She along with her husband Donnie, their exchange student from Sweden, her sister, son and daughter in law have been evacuated by boat but only have the clothes on their back.  All four of their vehicles are completely submerged and the water has entered  their home which is on 5 foot stilts!  They can't go back home because for safety they had to shut off the power, sewer and gas.  They are going to have to rebuild from the ground up.

They spent one night in the Red Cross Shelter at the rodeo grounds but a young lady that had been Bentley's preschool teacher came and got all of them with her husband and are providing shelter for all nine of them in their single wide trailer.

She planned ahead for the disaster by purchasing 50 gallons of water, $600 of canned goods, gasoline etc. but cannot get back to her home to pick up any supplies.  All of the grocery stores and gas stations are closed.  Their are no rental cars available in the entire state.  They are trying to procure a boat to get back home but they are in short supply.

Their cars are insured but due to an unfortunate event the home insurance had lapsed.  They had some roof damage from wind prior to this and filed a clainm with their homeowner's.  The homeowner's paid the claim and then cancelled their insurance.  They had had an adjuster out from the new insurance company but were told they needed to skirt the home before they would insure it.....and then this happened.

Jennifer is a 6-time cancer survivor.  She adopted her grandchildren in an instant when they were going to be sent to foster care; ultimately ending her prior marriage when she was given the ultimatum from her ex-husband, "It's them or me."  She chose them.  Family first.  Due to drug use during Brooklyn's Mom's pregnancy she was born with multiple health issues including being deaf, having a heart defect and many, many more, all of which has required multiple surgeries.

Her husband Donnie's place of employment is also flooded so he is unable provide any income at this time.  They need help.  Jennifer is the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.  She has strong Christian values.  She loves her family and America.  She is an extremely hard worker, a lover of animals and probably the kindest person I have ever met.

If you are feeling the urge to help someone affected by Hurrican Harvey but, like me,  are not sure where the money goes or if it even reaches those in need, rather than lining someone's pockets, then this is where to donate.  My name is Tracy Verbanac, I'm from Idaho,  those of you who know me know that I am totally legit.  Those of you that know her know that she and her family deserve a hand up if anyone does.  The money will be used for food, clothing, transporation costs, rebuilding and to supplement income until Donnie can return to work.

If you're reading this, then it is meant to be.  Please help if you can. God Bless America and God Bless the Elliott Family.  Amen.
