From the beginning . . .
My dear friend, Vicki cares for dozens of street cats, in Red Hook, Brooklyn. One of her regulars, who we've named Elliott, disappeared for about three weeks. Vicki had been searching for the sweet kitty that used to nuzzle her and ask for pets at feeding time. One day, he showed up to eat, but to Vicki's shock and horror, he was missing his hind leg and had a bone protruding. She spent three weeks trying to trap him and then with a tiny bit of help from me (and a borrowed drop trap from Bushwick Street Cats), she finally got him to safety. We took him to Vinegar Hill Veterinary, where doctors examined him, have him antibiotics for the bad infection that had set in, as well as pain killers. His bills are expected to exceed $2500, since he also desperately needs several dental extractions. We're hoping that Elliott will be available for adoption, at some point, since he's a good, sweet, wonderful boy, who deserves a life free of further pain and suffering. We're dedicated to NEVER putting him back on the street - EVER. Please help us help him. We vow to return any unused donations. Thank you, friends.
