Elliot - the fighter!
Our son, Elliot, was born on the 14th of november 2016 in Sweden at 03:27am. It was a monday. The whole pregnancy was free from complications and we were super excited to meet our son. Our first child. This was supposed to be the best day of our lives.
When Elliot finally came to us, after hours of struggling, he gave no sign of life. He was all blue, he had no pulse and the staff had to take him away from us straight away to see if they could save him.
The staff managed to save Elliot, after a week with respirator and months at different hospitals. Today, unfortunately, Elliot suffer from the effects of Perinatal Asphyxia. The worst of all is that this could have been avoided. His condition during the childbirth was induced by our midwife, who decided to give unauthorized medications during the process to make it go faster. She also made crucial decisions that she was not authoriced to.
Elliot truly is a fighter, a knight in shining armor and his condition is much better than the doctors thought it ever would be. This because we train at a daily basis with support from instances that the hospital see unfit. But, we would like to do more for him. We have found a treatment called hyperbaric oxygen theraphy (HBOT) that can improve peoples' recovery from brain injuries. But we need help to go there.
This treatment will cost us a lot of money. Money that we dont have and can't apply for anywhere else because the treatment's lack of clinical evidence. The money raised will go to Elliot´s HBOT treatment.
