Haaaaaaaaave you met Ellie? It is as difficult to place Ellie into a few paragraphs as it is to place her into a box. I think the term that we're looking for here is "doozy" or possibly "one of a kind".
Anyone who has the privilege to be close to Ellie is aware of what an incredible young woman she is. Even if you aren't close to her and have simply crossed her path I'm confident that you have been blessed by her infectious smile and joy. She is one of the few people that carry their own light and can brighten your day simply by being herself.
Let's not get too mushy here though. Along with these smiles and joy she brings a fierce spirit and enough determination to have some to spare.
When Ellie sets her mind to achieving a goal, nothing can stand in her way, and I pity the fool that tries to stop her. Whether it be climbing a mountain or working to pay her way through college, a fierce will to succeed and resilience in the presence of obstacles always shines bright in Ellie's eyes and heart.
Characteristics like these are what others say inspire them to fight harder and to be the best versions of themselves. Just like our beautiful Ellie.
The challenges that Ellie is facing now are her toughest yet. We have no doubt that this is simply another mountain for her to climb, and that she will conquer this just like she does any other obstacle... out of sheer stubbornness. We all know that her stubborn demeanor and independence won't allow her to ask for as much help as she needs, so we're asking for her!
On August 18th, Ellie became ill with what everyone assumed was the flu. Her illness progressed and began affecting her heart. After a series of procedures and some complications she is now fighting for her life. She is facing extended recovery time and the possibility of a heart transplant. At this time it is unclear what her recovery will entail and how much the medical expenses will continue to increase. You can't put a price on how much Ellie means to her friends, family, and community. Those close to her would be eternally grateful for anything you can you can give.
