Ellie’s open heart surgery

Donation protected

On July 19th we were blessed with two amazing, beautiful babies. After going to the normal 2 week check up, we were referred to a pediatric cardiologist to have an EKG and ultrasound done on Ellie’s heart. On August 12th, she was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart disease which requires open heart surgery to repair 2 of the 4 heart defects she was born with. On November 5th she will have her open heart surgery at Advocate Christ children’s hospital and we are praying she will only need one surgery.

If left untreated, Tetralogy of Fallot defect causes low oxygen levels, poor blood flow in her heart, poor blood circulation, shortness of breath, blue discoloration to hands/feet/lips, and can cause life long health/heart issues and eventually heart failure.

Getting this type of news was a huge shock and very nerve wrecking, but we are trying our best to stay strong for our baby girl and her twin brother.

Even with our health insurance, we will be left with a very large medical bill for her surgery and after surgery care in the pediatric ICU. Any donations will go directly to Ellie’s medical bills/surgery expenses and hospital stay. We really appreciate any help during this time, even if it’s just sharing this link. Thank you so much!

Love,

The Velasco family
