Ellie Gardner 23 weeks preemie

Thank you for stopping by & taking the time to read my sisters story & helping and praying in anyway you can.

Ivy & Jason were pregnant with their 4th baby... Since the other 3 were c-sections, they knew this would be their 4th and last c-section. Unfortunately for Ivy & baby - the news at her 20 week ultrasound showed she had complete placenta previa, she was immediately put on restricted activity and awaiting her follow- up appointment at 23 weeks gestation to have a repeat ultrasound. Just 1 day shy of becoming 23 weeks pregnant - some sharp and consistent pains sent her and Jason to the ER. She was seen there and after an US showed some fluid pockets thought to maybe be blood they rushed her to Iowa City for more testing and to be monitored. After a thorough CT scan they confirmed her internal bleeding and also placenta accreta - a serious condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall. In Ivy's case , it grew the entire way through her uterus through old c-section scars and was attached to her bladder. Emergency c-section began at 12 - midnight...just minutes after turning 23 weeks pregnant. After a 4 1/2 hour delivery & surgery with close to 30 people in operating room, a hysterectomy, 13 units of blood (3 being plasma), finding a softball size blood clot, she was back in ICU recovery and awoke to find her precious girl alive with support on the NICU floor. God is amazing! They nearly lost their lives. Babies born this young may not have the same opportunities had she been in a different hospital other than the University of Iowa.

They welcomed Ellie Grace -
micro preemie- born 9-3-18,
1.2 pounds and 11 inches long.
Their miracle baby.

The reason I wanted to set up this account for them is because of the 4+ month hospital stay that little Ellie will have since she wasnt due until December 31. They also live 3 1/2 hours away from the hospital so will need to constantly be back and forth to take care of their 3 other kids (a 5year old, 2 year old and a 9 month old.) They also needed to rent a place to stay there during this time as well so they have 2 homes right now. They are hard workers and both have jobs and they farm but Ivy will have to be off of work for atleast the next 5-6 months or more depending on the progress Ellie makes. Times are going to be tough for them and I know they will not ask for help. So I thank you in advance even if your help is an uplifting prayer- they will be heard and will be so appreciated. Thank you!
