Ellen's Fight Against Leukemia
On behalf of Ellen and her family, we have started a GoFundMe account to help them through this difficult time. Ellen was recently diagnosed with Leukemia and has just recieved her first dose of chemo this past week.
Prior to the diagnosis, Ellen had been feeling extremely lethargic, accompanied with fever and chills. It was a mystery to the doctors at first what her body was trying to fight. After many tests and blood work, they finally concluded that it is T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (a type of blood cancer).
T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a type of acute leukemia meaning that it is aggressive and progresses quickly. It affects the lymphoid-cell-producing stem cells, in paticular, a type of white blood cell called T lymphocytes which helps fight infections. The cause of T-ALL is unknown and is not an inherited trait.
