Hi, I'm Ellen!
I have a Master’s Degree in Environmental Education and twenty-five years of experience teaching and facilitating as a Drummer, and I plan on combining those skills and talents with a professional teaching License in Middle School Science and Special Education.
Having made it through a rigorous interview process, I’ve been accepted into a local Teach for America program, Teach Western Mass, to teach under-served youth in Holyoke, MA! This program will allow me to fulfill student teaching and course requirements while working with a team of teachers committed to giving these students the education they deserve.
I have passed the State exams. This summer will be intensive classes with no income (ACK!). This Fall I will be employed as a teacher in Holyoke Public Schools!
Serving Holyoke has particular importance to me as it was the birthplace of my Dad, Bill Clegg. I am honoring his memory and that of my grandparents by investing my life experience and skills to create a more equitable and just world in this local corner of it.
This gofundme page is to raise $6,000.00 of funds so that I can attend the summer intensive classes. Your support will allow me to sustain my household for my daughter, Lucia, and myself.
Please help make this training possible for me with any amount you are able to contribute. I will need to give notice at my current job by May if I am able to raise enough funds to do the program. If I meet my goal, any additional funds will go towards the tuition of the program.
