Ellen Higginbottom’s Memorial Garden

In 2017 young Winstanley College student Ellen Higginbottom tragically lost her life in Orrell Water Park. The community was in shock that such an event had happened on our doorstep. Tributes were left on a small patch of land where Greenslate Road meets Tracks Lane, adjacent to Greenslate Farm. It was decided to maintain and develop this land into a memorial garden for Ellen and celebrate her young life. The garden is looked after by local residents who volunteer their time, resources and own funds to keep it fresh and reflect Ellen’s passions.  
We are often approached by members of the public who wish to make a contribution or donation towards the garden’s upkeep. There are always plants to replace, repairs to be done, tools to buy and new ideas to implement. Three years on the community mosaic stepping stones are in need of significant repair which we plan for the drier Spring weather.  If you’d like to contribute any amount at all, we would be more than grateful.
